Hi!
On Friday the 6th of March
we went to a reading of Cornelia Funke, a famous German author. She
presented the third book of her bestselling book series »Reckless«.
Other famous books of her are for example the »Inkheart
Trilogy« and »The
Thief Lord«.
The reading was hold in the beautiful theatre »Deutsches
Schauspielhaus« in the German city of Hamburg.
We
were very excited because it was our first reading of Cornelia Funke
and we love her books
a lot and the event even exceeded our expectations. In the beginning
she read parts of her book together with the German actor Rainer
Strecker who also spoke the audio books of
her stories. He has an amazing voice and the two let the characters
come to life.
After that she answered the questions of the audience which were very interesting. The one we liked most was the question if the ideas for her stories just come up or if she has to think about it a lot. Cornelia Funke answered that everybody has good ideas and the capability of writing. In her opinion the creativity and the ability of imagining things are not promoted enough in school. We totally agree with that!
I, Liv, also asked her something about her book »Reckless« and she answered very kindly. In addition, she was very honest. When someone asked her if »Reckless« will be turned into a movie she said that she would never allow that because she fears that it would be like the »Inkheart« movie. She explained that she has the feeling that she created a magic carpet with her story but the producers of the film turned it into a handkerchief. We liked the way she was talking to the audience because she said what she really thinks and explained a lot about her books, not only the »Reckless« series but also the »Inkheart« books and upcoming projects.

The event was awesome and the ambiance was great. All involved persons made a huge effort. The stage design was beautiful and really fit the book. What also was fantastic was the music that was played in between. A violin, a cello and sound maker created a mysterious atmosphere. Afterwards Cornelia Funke signed books. As we were the first in line we got to talk to her a little bit. Therefore we were very grateful and will never forget this great event. That is why in our next post we will present the »Reckless« series and especially the third book.
I will visit Grayson now. He wants his pullover back... ~Liv
